About Me
Getting my tree back to life

I have a really beautiful old olive tree in my backyard. I love sitting under it on warm summer night. Unfortunately, the tree got a bit of a knock from the truck that brought in our swimming pool this summer, and it has been looking quite sick ever since and hasn't had any olives yet this year. I am very attached to the tree, so I have got a guy from the tree service company making weekly visits to give it extra fertilising and trimming to try to promote growth. This blog is all about nursing a sick old tree back to health with help from a tree service company.

When preparing your house for a storm, you need to be aware of the possible consequences of being unprepared. A storm can completely demolish your property and cause destruction worth a lot of money. To protect your house from the possible consequences of stormy weather, there are many precautions you can take. Just remember that it's better to prepare for the worst, even if it doesn't turn out that way in the end.

Secure your doors and windows

Keep windows and doors closed. If you're suspecting a severe storm, you should also use plywood to cover them with, as this will protect them from debris flying around in the wind. Make sure you keep at least one door unlocked and uncovered, in case you are forced to make a quick escape from your house. You should not use a door that is partially made out of glass as an escape door, as it's more important that those doors are covered in order to not break and spread shattered glass everywhere.

Mind your garden

Your garden is important to care for as well as your house, as the things you have in your garden can affect the safety of your house. Take all outdoor furniture and items inside the house to prevent them from being caught in the wind and causing damage. You should also remove all debris that has gathered in your garden, such as tree branches and compost piles. To minimise the risk of your trees damaging your house, you should look for a gardener business that performs tree lopping in your area. They will remove damaged branches that might become a danger if they were to be ripped off the tree in a storm. Tree lopping also keeps your trees in top condition, as the branches will grow back out healthier than they were before when the storm has passed.

Find shelter

The most important thing to do is to find somewhere you can take shelter, and make sure you are able to stay in there for some time. If all other precautions fail, you will want to have somewhere to hide from the weather until it has cleared up. To find the most secure place in your home, you should try and put as many walls as possible between you and the storm. A small room without windows in your basement is the ideal place to take shelter during a storm. If this is not possible, like if you live in a house without a basement, you should try to find any small room without windows as close to the ground as possible.
